Friday, August 31st – Sunday, September 2nd Anderson County is proud to announce the 2012 Labor Day Omnium, which includes the 4th Annual Tour de La France along with the 14th Annual Celebrate Anderson! During the 2011 Tour de La France, the streets of Downtown Anderson were “abuzz” with more than 100 pro-cyclists/handcyclists representing 10 countries! Determined not to “rest on our laurels,” our executive committee, assisted by two-time US Professional champion cyclist John Eustice, has expanded this signature event to invite Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) pro-cyclists and work toward making our event an official UCI sanctioned event in 2013; once again enhancing Anderson County’s reputation as THE LABOR DAY DESTINATION! Labor Day Omnium is sanctioned by USA Cycling and US Handcycling. (Handcycling is a Paralympic Sport and the Labor Day Omnium is a sanctioned USHF point event). The 2012 Labor Day Omnium & Tour de La France will begin on Friday, August 31st and end with Celebrate Anderson, our communities' largest outdoor concert, complete with choreographed Patriotic Fireworks Show, on Sunday evening, September 2nd.
