Upstate forever’s annual art show features nature-based works by upstate artists

Upstate Forever will present its seventh annual Art and Conservation Celebration silent auction April 30, 2013 at Larkin’s on the River in downtown Greenville. The auction will include paintings, photography, pottery, jewelry, wood-turned items and more.

“Not only does this event showcase the depths of our local artistic talent, but also the beauty of our natural, rural and urban spaces,” said Upstate Forever Development Associate Emily Neely.

“All of the artwork featured at Art and Conservation makes use of local scenes, local materials, and local sensibility. The event visually highlights our mission to protect special places in the Upstate of South Carolina by representing us as we are and what we hope to be in years to come.”

As of April 13, almost sixty artists had committed to the event. Participating artists at press time included Monta Anthony, Eric Benjamin, Carl Blair, Jane Todd Butcher, Ray Byram, Dona Aaron Byram, Marquin Campbell, Linda Hyatt Cancel, Emory Cash, Richard Carr, Bob Chance, Steven Chapp, Bill and Pam Clark, Sally Coenen, Ben Correll, Judy Iselin Cromwell, Melinda Crowe, Scott Cunningham, Jamie Davis, Jane Dempsey, Steven Faucette, Isabel Forbes, John Gillespie, Woody Goodwin, Lynn Greer, Edith McBee Hardaway, Diane Hopkins-Hughs, Susan Hopps, Gaffney Jarrell, Dorothy Josey, William Jordan, Ben Geer Keys, J. Ashley Kirby, Ellen Kochansky, Eula La Croix, Pat Lorenz, Don McClure, Rosemary McLeod, Wanda Meade, Kris Neely, Scott Neely, Benjamin Nixon, Rich Nicoloff, Lou Peden, Cody Roberts, Darlene Roberts, Dwight Rose, Ric Standridge, Mac Stone, Ali van den Broek, Judy Verhoeven, Jean Vinson, Wes Walker, John Webb, Aimee Wise, Lu Wixon, Patty Wright, and David Zacharias.

The event will be held Tuesday, April 30, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Larkin’s on the River. Admission is $50 per person. Heavy hors d’oeuvres, beer and wine are included in the admission price. To register, go to http://www.upstateforever.org/artandconservation.html or call (864) 327-0090.
