Advance tickets will be $10, and if purchased at the door will be $15.
This will be a double crown pageant. Two Miss Teen contestants and two Miss contestants will be crowned and go on to compete in July for the titles of Miss South Carolina and Miss South Carolina Teen in Columbia June 29-July 2.
Last year Miss Powdersville Teen Rachel Wyatt competed in the Miss South Carolina Pageant and won 1st runner up. She was also the overall evening gown winner and talent winner. Miss Powdrsville Cushena Mansell won Miss Congenitally, and Miss Piedmont Teen Rachel Shingleton won a scholarship award. Also competing in Miss South Carolina last year was Miss Piedmont Anna English.
Michelle Ward, the Miss Powdersville director, said the process is more than just winning a crown, but described the process like “applying for a job.”
She said, “These queens must go out to raise there support for Miss South Carolina Pageant, and also they will have a lot of committee service hours. I work hard for all four queens to get them prepared for state. My goal as there director is to have them in the top 10 when we go to state.”
Applications are currently being accepted from 13- to 25-year-olds. For more information, call Ward at 982-4500, or e-mail her at mhward@charter.net. The deadline is Jan. 14.
