New Jersey pounds Massachusetts 26-1 in U.S. East tourney

DOVER, Delaware – New Jersey pounded Massachusetts with 26 runs Monday night en route to improving to 2-0 in the U.S. East tournament for the Big League World Series.

Meanwhile, Pennsylvania defeated Rhode Island 7-1 in the second round of the tournament to improve to 2-0.

That means the New Jersey will face Pennsylvania tonight at 8 p.m. in the final game of the winners bracket.

In the loser’s bracket, Rhode Island will play an elimination game against Maryland at 3 p.m. today. Maryland eliminated Connecticut from the tournament.

Massachusetts faces the host team, Delaware District One at 5:30 p.m. today. Delaware District One defeated the Delaware state champions – District 3 – yesterday to stay alive in the tournament.
