Puerto Rico opens BLWS in style

EASLEY -- Puerto Rico opened the Big League World Series with a 9-0 win over EMEA Wednesday night.

Starting pitcher Kelvin Rivas gave up just one hit in five innings to take the win for Puerto Rico.

Joshua Corea had two hits in three at-bats, including one home run. Corea drove in three runs. Victor Claudio had three hits in four at bats, including a double.

Puerto Rico, 1-0, now plays Canada Friday at noon.

EMEA will try to bounce back Thursday against Canada. Game time is 4 p.m.
