Applications will be accepted October 15 through December 15, 2011.
Two scholarships will be awarded in January 2012 (Anderson Regional Airport has agreed to sponsor one student and Airwolf Aviation will match with an additional scholarship.)
Eligible applicants must be age 17 by June 30, 2012. All applicants must submit an essay (200-word minimum) stating why they should be chosen to receive a Free Private Pilot Certificate Essay must be accompanied by the following 5 character questions:
Character Questions:
1. Name three words that best describe you?
2. What is your most valued possession and why?
3. What is your favorite subject in school?
4. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be and why?
5. If you could do anything for only one person, who would you choose and why?
Scholarship recipients will be selected during the first Airport Advisory Commission meeting in January 2012. Winners will be chosen by a panel of six aviation professionals and enthusiasts to include:
1.) Anderson Airport Manager – Steve Vibbard
2.) Airwolf Aviation, Flight School Owner – Michele Rash
3.) Airport Advisory Commission Member
4.) Airport Advisory Commission Member
5.) Airwolf Aviation – Chief Flight Instructor for Anderson Airport
6.) Airwolf Aviation – Flight Instructor
Scholarship recipients may begin training immediately after their selection and will be given all required supplies necessary to earn their Private Pilot Certificate. Flight training must be completed by June 30, 2012.
