She was born and raised in Henderson County.
She was the daughter of the late Arnold and Geraldine Sizemore Nelson and was also preceded in death by her husband Allan R. Lewis who was on the Maiden Voyage of the U.S.S. Nautilus and a sister Judy Nelson.
She retired from Greenville Memorial Hospital after over 20 years of service.
Ruth was a proud granddaughter of John Peter Corn, a Revolutionary Soldier who served with George Washington at Valley Forge.
Surviving is her son, Scott Lewis of Hendersonville; her granddaughter, Stephanie Lewis of Hendersonville; her sister, Patricia Schnyder and her husband John of Hendersonville; her aunt, Lorene Hightower Nelson of Greenville; five devoted first cousins and many other cousins; her niece, Joan Schnyder, her nephew, Michael Schnyder her great niece, Molly Schnyder and numerous friends.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at St. Michaels Episcopal Church in Easley, SC where she was a member. Father Lee Dudley will officiate. A reception will follow in the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Michaels Fund For The Outdoor Garden and Playground Equipment.
