Concrete Primary is getting set for its annual Carnival that serves as the main fundraiser for the PTSO organization.

Principal Sherry Padgett says this year’s event, which will run this Friday, April 27, will offer new and exciting activities for the whole family.

“We’re going to have a new thing this year called game truck where kids can go in and play some video games,” said Padgett. “We have a stage set up this year where we will have some local dance companies come and perform. We will also have our usual food, games, inflatables and baskets for auction.”

Food items will include Chick-fil-A, as well as pizza, popcorn, and even snow cones. Aside from food, Padgett says carnival provides a way for families in the community to get out and get involved.

“This is our annual fundraiser, but it’s also just a chance for people to get out in the community and meet,” said Padgett. “We try to get information out to future students so they can get familiar with the school. Former students get to come back, and we have some students that volunteer to help out. It’s just nice to see old faces and new faces.”

With books being the main goal behind this fundraiser, Padgett says carnival goers will be giving to a worthy cause.

“We buy a lot of things for technology, and we buy a lot of books with it,” said Padgett. “Being the age group that we are, you can never have enough books for kids who are trying to read. They also provide money for teachers to do field trips, and give teachers money for regular classroom supplies.”

Plenty of activities are on the agenda for this event, and the principal is expecting a large turnout.

“We’ve had a lot of advance ticket sales, so I think we’re going to have another good turnout,” said Padgett. “We usually have a very good turnout. I’ve only been here three years and it has just been wonderful every year. Everyone always has a lot of fun and it’s just a good atmosphere.”

The carnival will be held on school grounds at 535 Powdersville Main in Easley. Festivities will begin at 5 p.m. and go until 8:30 p.m. Friday.
