ANDERSON COUNTY — The Anderson School District One Board of Trustees has hired two new principals to replace two administrators who are retiring at the end of this school year.

Torie Tourtellot was selected as Hunt Meadow Elementary School’s new principal. Tourtellot has worked at Hunt Meadows as assistant principal for the past six years.

“I am honored and privileged to be named the principal of Hunt Meadows Elementary for the upcoming school year,” she said. “Hunt Meadows has a dedicated staff, wonderful students, and supportive parents. I look forward to the challenges that lay ahead as we continue our tradition of academic excellence.”

Tourtellot has a bachelor’s degree from Winthrop University and a master’s from Clemson University.

Jason Lesley was selected as Spearman Elementary School’s new principal. Lesley taught in Anderson One, served as assistant principal in the Pickens County School District and is currently the assistant principal at Concrete Primary and West Pelzer Elementary schools.

“I am thrilled that my career path has led me back to Spearman,” Lesley said. “I cannot wait to be a part of the success of such an amazing school.”

Lesley has a bachelor’s degree from Erskine College and a master’s from Furman University.

“We couldn’t find two better people,” said Anderson One Superintendent Wayne Fowler.

“They each bring talent, experience and enthusiasm, and we know the schools will continue to be successful under their leadership,” he said.

Cedar Grove Elementary Principal Brenda Ellison is retiring at the end of the school year, but the district may transfer the principal from Pelzer Elementary to Cedar Grove, as the school board is considering closing Pelzer.
