Brock was selected from teachers in Anderson, Pickens and Oconee school districts to represent the local reading council at the state reading conference.
“I feel honored to represent Anderson 1 and the Foothills Reading Council as Distinguished Reading Teacher of the Year,” Brock said. “As a reading teacher, nothing warms my heart more than to see students engaged in a book and hearing parents talk about their child’s newly acquired love of reading.”
Brock is currently teaching fourth grade and has taught for three years at Wren Elementary.
“Ms. Brock is enthusiastic about reading and it is contagious to her students. She creates an atmosphere for all students to love reading. She has a unique way of helping students connect to all types of literature and creates life-long readers,” said Wren Elementary Principal Rhonda Tunstall.
Anderson One Director of Elementary Education Jane Harrison said, “Ms. Brock is an asset to the teaching staff in our district. She has become a leader among her peers and has found opportunities to grow professionally in her Masters in Education program and the S.C. Upstate Writing Project.”
