“I am proud at how well our students performed on the new state assessment,” Anderson One Superintendent Wayne Fowler said about the Palmetto Achievement of State Standards. “Our scores make us very competitive with districts across the state. High rankings show the high quality of instruction taking place in the classroom.”
Anderson School District One’s science test scores were all among the top four in the state.
In Anderson One, 92.1 percent of students passed the English language arts section of the PASS, compared to 75.6 percent in the state.
Also, 90.8 percent of Anderson One’s sixth graders passed the social studies part of the test, compared to 79.6 percent in the state.
South Carolina and federal laws require end-of-the-year accountability tests for third to eighth grades that are based on state academic standards.
PASS results include scores in five subject areas: writing, English language arts, math, science and social studies.
PASS has three scoring levels: “exemplary,” “met,” and “not met.”
Statewide, the PASS results continued the trends that were associated with the Palmetto Achievement Challenge Test. Eighth-grade PASS results were generally lower than the other grades, which also was similar to PACT trends.
