Wren is currently 3-5 in Region 1-AAAA play, and sits in the fourth-place spot. Westside is 2-6 and is in fifth place. A win Tuesday night would give a two-game lead over the Rams with just one game remaining in the season.
Since each conference sends four teams to the AAAA state playoffs, Wren would snap up a spot in the playoffs, more than likely facing the Region 2-AAAA champions in the first round on Feb. 16.
A loss would allow Westside to pull into a tie for fourth place in Region 1-AAAA, and would leave the teams split with a win each against each other.
Wren would have to then defeat Easley at home Friday, and hope the Rams loss to Hanna also. Otherwise the four seed will come down to a tiebreaker, most likely comparing the scores of the two games the teams played against each other.
Wren won the first meeting of the two schools 47-45 Jan. 19.
Friday night against Laurens, the Hurricanes trailed 11-6 after one period, and 33-19 after three periods. A fourth quarter comeback fell short for Wren, leaving the Hurricanes with a 41-34 loss.
Tiara Cox led Wren with 11 points. Other scoring for the Hurricanes were Maura Matter 6, Keyana Harrison 3, Ashley Clary 3, Addie Merrit 3, Hannah Lockaby 2, Chelsea Hawkins 2, Book Irvin 2 and Lindsey Stegall 2.
Dee Boyce led Laurens with 12 points.
