PIEDMONT — Mae King Owen, 94, of 6414 Highway 81 North, widow of John Gary Owen, died Saturday, April 3, 2010, at her home.

Born in Piedmont, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Mourning Moore King. She was former owner and operator of Owen Dairy and retired from Anderson County School District 1. A member of Shiloh United Methodist Church in Piedmont, she was an honorary member of the church administrative board, a member of the Rhoda King Sunday School Class and a former member of the United Methodist Women. She was also a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ellen and Martin Owen, of Anderson, Doris and Larry Gaillard, of North Augusta, Linda and Mitch Upton, Nancy and Mike Upton, all of Piedmont; grandchildren, Jeffrey Owen Upton, Jon Michael Upton, Julie Upton Vidal, Jenny Upton Arellano, Ginger Upton Ellington, Joan Owen Upton, Richard Anthony Gaillard, Tammy Gaillard Smith and Candice Corley Fleming; and great-grandchildren, Gentry Owen Upton, Dawayne Smith, Amber Smith, Buck Fleming, Brad Fleming, Bryan Gaillard, Baylen Gaillard and Jena Gaillard.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Ellen King, Sam King, Veldee King, Drury King and Maude Bomar.

Visitation will be 6-8 pm on Sunday, April 4, 2010, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Funeral services will be at 4 pm on Monday, April 5, 2010, at Shiloh United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. David Brown, Mr. Mike Upton, Mr. Jeff Upton and Mrs. Julie Vidal officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
