A Super New Adventure: Henry Cavill and Natalie Viscuso Are Expecting Their First Baby

For Henry Cavill, the role of a lifetime is just beginning – fatherhood. The British actor, best known for bringing DC’s Superman to life in the DCEU films, is expecting his first child with girlfriend Natalie Viscuso.

The exciting news was revealed by Cavill himself on the red carpet for the premiere of his new film The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare on April 15th. Beaming with joy, the 40-year-old told Access Hollywood “Natalie and I are very, very excited” about becoming parents.  

It’s a journey into parenthood that Cavill has been looking forward to for years, inspired by his own upbringing. “If I ever have kids one day, I want to be the dad who’s running round after them,” he told Men’s Health UK back in 2017. At the time, he acknowledged that the window was “starting to get quite late” but remained determined, saying “I want to be a fit and healthy dad, not hobbling around like, ‘OK, I’m just going to catch a breather.’”

Now, Cavill is over the moon to be taking that step with Viscuso by his side. In an exclusive interview with E! News, the smitten star couldn’t help but gus

h about his partner. “I’ve never known someone to work as hard as her,” he said of the Vertigo Entertainment executive.

While both keep their relationship relatively private, Cavill pulled back the curtain a bit on their laidback life at home. “We’re not shy of a kitchen dance party, I’ll tell you that much. A bottle of wine goes down range,” he shared, quickly adding with a laugh, “Obviously not now—but previously” in reference to Viscuso’s pregnancy.

The child will be the first for both Cavill and Viscuso, who have been dating since around 2020 after first being introduced in the entertainment world. Their romance went public when the Man of Steel actor posted a playful glimpse at their relationship on Instagram in April 2021.

“Dear fans and followers, I wanted to make it official…that I am very happy in love, and in life,” Cavill wrote, sharing a photo of him and Viscuso playing a chess-like game. Addressing critics head on, he added “I’d be enormously grateful if you were happy with me. If you can’t bring yourself to be happy with me, then at the very least try to make yourself proud and be the best version of yourself.”

Since then, the ultra-private pair have offered fans mere glimpses into their world together – celebrating birthdays and career milestones with the occasional sweet shout-out on social media.  They didn’t even make their official red carpet debut until the premiere of Cavill’s film Argylle in late 2022.

“I am so, so proud of you, Henry,” Viscuso gushed in an Instagram tribute when her beau covered The Hollywood Reporter in 2021. “You truly are the greatest man I have ever known.”  

For his part, Cavill has been effusive about the invaluable support Viscuso provides. “She has been an incredible support system for me,” he told Deadline last year, “and really opened my eyes to a lot of things and opened a gateway for me to drive harder and pursue further. And I’m eternally grateful for that.”

Now, with a baby on the way, that partnership will only deepen as Cavill and Viscuso embark on the biggest shared adventure of their lives – parenthood.  

While it was a long road to this milestone, the British star seems to have found the perfect co-parent in Viscuso. Her own unique upbringing, which included being featured on the MTV reality show My Super Sweet 16 as a teenager, has clearly shaped the grounded woman she is today.

Additionally, Viscuso’s experience in the entertainment world as an executive will prove indispensable as they navigate raising a child in the public eye. No strangers to criticism and scrutiny, the couple have already shown incredible poise and grace when it comes to protecting their privacy.

Of course, that challenging aspect of life in the spotlight is something Cavill has been open about for years when asked about his dreams of being a father one day. Back in a 2019 interview with Elle magazine, he admitted “There’s something awesome about it, because I’ve had that experience from the other side. I don’t know what it’s going to be like.”

Now, he’s about to find out – with a true super woman by his side. While undoubtedly challenging at times, this next chapter will be Cavill’s greatest role yet. And if his past perseverance and the solid foundation he’s built with Viscuso are any indication, it’s a part he was born to play.

Whether they choose to share glimpses of their journey or keep their family out of the spotlight, one thing is certain – the parents-to-be are stepping into the biggest blockbuster of their lives. Hold on to your capes, it’s going to be a thrill ride!
